The pages in this category were started by CChris in september 2006. At that time, the current version of win32lib was 0.60.6, which was released Sept 19, 2004. The latest official release is v0.70.3 on Dec 22, 2007.
Feel free to correct any typo, improve any text formatting, correct any error, add any tip or trick, make any statement clearer or more precise.
These pages originally did not mention any backward compatibility issue. However, it is known that some people keep versions as old as 0.55 because some program they run were written for that version. Perhaps some users will write pages about earlier versions. The library of course has a change log.
If further releases occur, it is to be debated whether the pages should be modified to reflect the changes, or if a change log starting from 0.60.6 is the best solution. Since adding the data from a change log is a tedious process, the former Win32lib category has split into several version specific subcategories. Thus the original pages, except for this one, are in the Win32lib_0_60_6 category, while new pages relating to v0.70.3 will appear in the Win32lib_0_70_3 category. And so on till someone decides otherwise.
The pages try to connect the way the Windows API is organised, the layer provided by the library and tasks the user may wish to perform. Some paragraphs may deal with technical issues you have no need to tinker with: just skip them. They probably should stay there, because there are needs for it.
It is recommended that any modification made to pages relating to some version be made in the category corresponding to that version, and to the same page in all subcategories where the change applies. Remember that these pages aim to serve as a help tool for a whole user community. Please remember this as you make any change and just before committing it. Thanks to everyone who'll help.
The official website for the library is athttp://sourceforge.net/projects/win32libex/
This is the preferred place to submit bug reports or feature requests. Alternatively, you'll find a distribution at RDS' website at http://www.rapideuphoria.com, in the Archive section. Ubder some circumstances, it may harbor an unstable version prior to an official release. CChris
